Dakota County Crisis Stabilization

Intake Instructions

Referrals for Crisis Stabilization are taken through the Crisis Response Unit, 24 hours/day, 7 days/week, Call 952-891-7171 with Crisis Assessment information.

Intake Process

Client will receive a brief assessment of need over the phone. A referral for crisis stabilization services will be forwarded to the supervisor for review and assignment, if appropriate. At times, there is a waitlist for services; caller will be informed of waitlist. Otherwise, a worker will reach out to discuss services within 72 business hours of phone call.

Service Description

Crisis Stabilization services include:  Face to face meetings, supportive counseling, further assessment of mental health status and needs, skills training, help with referrals, and collaboration with other providers and informal networks.

Rule-outs

Crisis Stabilization Services are available to a family/individual, residing in Dakota County, with an assessment completed by a crisis intervention service  and a recommendation for stabilization and at least one of the criteria below is met:
• There is the absence of other services that address the factors that led to the crisis, or the inability to access these services in a timely fashion.
• The client has not been restored to the pre-crisis level of functioning.
• Without stabilization services, there is a high likelihood of hospitalization, harm to self or other, crisis recurrence, further deterioration of the client’s functioning or further deterioration of the family system.
