Intake Instructions

Call Dakota County Crisis Stabilization Unit at 952-891-7171  24/7 to schedule an appointment at a community provider.  Let them know you’ve assessed the individual and are looking for a psychiatry appointment

Intake Process

Will be screened to meet the following:
• Dakota County resident of all ages
• Individual has been assessed for needing urgent psychiatry services
• Determination of Insurance Type

Service Description

Provider will do an initial psychiatric appointment and continue to see the individual or refer them to another provider.  Appointments are appropriate for:

Individuals who do not have existing provider

OR

Individuals who have an existing provider but cannot get an appointment quickly enough to avoid crisis

Individual must be safe enough (not behaviorally dangerous or disruptive) for an outpatient appointment.

Rule-outs

Must be a Dakota County resident.

Exclusionary Criteria:

• Acutely manic or psychotic with danger to self or others
• Behaviorally unstable
• Substance abuse is a primary and active problem
• Appointment being sought solely or mainly for the prescription of stimulants or benzodiazepines
